SECOND DRAFT / 1.ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY / SHOULD SCHOOLS PROVIDE MORAL EDUCATION FOR YOUTH, OR SHOULD INSTRUCTION IN VALUES BE LEFT TO PARENTS ? / NURDAN DOĞAN

SHOULD SCHOOLS PROVIDE MORAL EDUCATION FOR YOUTH, OR SHOULD INSTRUCTION IN VALUES BE LEFT TO PARENTS ?

Morality is to make good behaviors with one’s own desire and to stay away from bad behaviors.Family is the important element in moral education. Moral education is a long and difficult process which lasts from birth to death. Child’s moral education starts at birth. A newborn baby is in need of love, trust and attention. Meeting these needs in a healthy way is important in terms of the child’s moral development. Furthermore, peer relationships, school life and the mass media play an important role in the moral education of child but this task falls to family primarily. To give a good moral education, children should be trained by their families according to child’s development terms. Child’s moral development stages are extremely important.

The first step of moral development is an infancy period. During this period, the child's sense of right and wrong, is that just how child feel about the good and bad. The second step is the period when children begin to walk. In this period, children learn "right" and "wrong" are told by others. In the third step, during the pre-school years, children begin to internalize family values as if they were their own values. They begin to perceive the consequences of their own behavior.

Fourth step covers the period of 7-10 years. The distinguishing feature of this period is to begin interrogating the child's parents, teachers and other adults’s infallibilities. Children have a strong sense like "should be made" and "should not be made" in this period. In the fifth step which covering pre-adolescence and adolescence years, children give importance to peers rather than adults. Byexperimenting with different value systems in the buddy system, they will try to find the most suitable one for himself. Especially, in this period, we must direct our children to people who knew religious and moral values and advise them to establish friendships with them.

The biggest responsibility falls to parents before someone else. Families should be a good example and model for the children. They must have certain principles in moral education. Nice behaviors should be endear such as justice, fairness, generosity, being true one’s word, patience, gratitude. Likewise, children should be kept away from bad behaviors such as cruelty, lying, mockery, vanity, slander, envy. Families must have a balanced discipline. Reward and punishment must be used correctly. Children should be followed at the school.

There are also school’s  role  in the moral education of children. Teacher and teacher’s communication with other children in the class affect moral values. Teacher’s personality, attitude and perspective to events it the class is more important than the theoretical training. Children learn by modeling everything, so the first people child see are teacher and classmates after the child’s family environment. The slightest distinction made between children, the courses which taught shouting by teacher, the teacher’s resorting to violence frequently will affect children’s moral values negatively.

As a result, child’s moral education starts at birth with parent. Community, environment, friends, school shape child’s moral values. These factors must help to child for having good moral values. Atatürk has showed that the importance of moral values saying I like athlete’s intelligent, agile and also good moral. We must not forget the significance of the moral education of children and youth for a peaceful family and social structure.

                                                                                                                    (2.Cause and effect essay)
                                                         GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming is called as a rising of temperature on the earth’s surface as a result of greenhouse gases which released into the atmosphere by humans. Earth's surface is heated by the sun's rays. In recent years, accumulation of carbon dioxide and methane gas in the atmosphere has increased due to the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, rapid population and consumption tendency in society. According to scientists, this rising causes global warming.

Climate system is influenced by solar, greenhouse gases and human factors. In winter, temperatures are rising, animals are changing their migration periods therefore global warming causes climate change. Animal and plant species which can not stand these changes are declining or disappearing. Global warming affects directly human health. Scientists have researched that climate change can trigger some diseases such as heart, respiratory, infectious and allergic diseases.

It causes hurricanes and floods. In the long term drought, it causes desertification. Melting of glaciers leads to disappearing of coastal areas. This will narrow life field in the world. Avalanches occur frequently due to temperature changes in the snowy mountains and avalanches endanger residential areas. Thirst occurs as a result of the rapid depletion of water resources. Drought causes forest fires. Generation of seals and polar bears will be in jeopardy because of melting glaciers.

We must take our precautions against global warming. We should use energy-friendly bulbs. Televisions should not be used in standby mode. We should use fans instead of air conditioning. Houses should be insulated against heat loss. We should prefer public transport. We should prefer walking instead of driving for short distances. Tap should not be left open during brushing teeth, washing dishes and shaving. Glazed products should be preferred such as bottles and jars. Consumers should not take non-recyclable products.

In brief, due to the fact that global warming damages environment, people should be informed about it. We must take necessary measures to decline it’s continuity. Experts should organize seminars or conferences about global warming. People should be conscious against it. The damages which are caused by people should be reduced. Plant and animal species and human health should be protected against damages.

Organic food can be described that it is grown naturally without being a chemical drug. Chemicals are important factors that they cause cancer. Scientists have researched about organic foods and they have concluded from research that organic foods do not contain any chemical or hormone. (approximately  %94 - %100 of organic food). To understand organic foods, If the product is packaged, organic foods have to have certificate number ,the name of the company which is behind of the package and  the green circle which is stamp of organic farming.

The more rapidly world population increase, the more quickly people start to use some substances like hormones, fertilizers for quicker food production. EFFICIENT STUDYING TECHNIQUES

It is defined that efficient studying is to use the time methodically for a certain purpose. Efficient studying is not to ignore other activities or it is not a time which spent just to study. According to certain plan and programs, it is possible to allow the time to other activities in addition to studying. Efficient studying is a process which earned at an early age and affecting one’s success in life.It has some techniques. Efficient studying techniques are scheduled study method, preparing to study, reading method, concentrating method, repeating method.

Preparing to study, your studying environment have to be arranged properly so that you are able to increase your studying efficiency. You should pay attention your desk’s regularity. Unnecessary things should be removed apart from materials which are relevant with lessons. The room should be clean and bright. It must have a normal temperature. While you are studying, visual documents should not be in the room because they can cause to distraction for example posters, pictures.

Reading method, reading is one of the most prominent ways of efficient studying  and learning. Reading should be continued with the brain not the lips. Reading should be made within a certain period. Ones must read articles about various topics.

Concentrating method, attention is to concentrate on a particular subject of mind. A target which is relevant with studied topic should be determined. Studied topic should be divided into smaller meaningful parts. During the study, it should be placed to various activities such as writing, reading, telling. Ones should have a curiosity about studied topic.

Repeating method, the research has shown that seventy percent of the information is learned in one hour, eighty percent of the information is forgotten within twenty-four hours. It is necessary to repeat effectively for becoming permanent of learned information. Especially, to repeat before sleeping prevents to forget. Telling to someone else is a great benefit for repeating.

As a result, there are five techniques for effective studying. To me, efficient studying is to save the time. It is not important thing to study hard to be successful, the important thing is to study efficiently. It should not be forgotten that stone can be drilled with the continuity of drops, not the force of water.

On the contrary in the single life , in the married life ,woman and man behaves in collOboration with each other. It has more responsibilities such as supplying necessities of home and family, being mother or father, looking after child, providing child’s education expenses ,having a regular job.Because woman and man arrange a family which is a serious matter , there isn't an individual lifestyle anymore they have an aim.

The purpose of marriage shows differences  person to person. For example , finding one's true love ,bringing children into the world and providing a safe or secure environment  for them , fulfilling one's parent 's expectations.. etc.

In bErief , there are diffrences in many aspects between single and married life.To me,woman and man should be respectful each other. They should share their emotions and ideas each other.Ones must take a right decision. If ones want to last a lifetime marriage , they must be aware of responsibilities.
